Truck Driver Summary Description

The Truck Driver drives company truck used for transporting goods from the distribution center, stores, ADCs, home pick‑ups and business pick‑ups. Reports to the Senior Manager Logistics and Aftermarket.

• Drive company trucks to designated locations.
• Ensure safety of trucks, material handlers, and yourself.
• Report unsafe conditions.
• Complete daily pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections.
• Pick‑ups donations from residences, businesses, ADCs, and stores.
• Deliver all donated goods to the dock.
• Deliver merchandise to stores.
• Serve as material handler loading and unloading truck.
• Supervise material handlers during loading/unloading and deliveries.
• Lift, carry, push, and pull a maximum of 50 lbs.
• Cooperate with the Transportation Manager, Commercial Operations Division Director, co‑workers, and the public.
• Ensure quantity and quality of work performed.
• Meet deadlines and respond to special needs.
• Maintain truck in safe, proper working condition.
• Attend departmental and safety meetings as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• One to two years of experience driving a Bobtail/Straight Truck 24 ft. or more.
• Demonstrated knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to the operation of a Bobtail truck.

• Ability to read and write in English.
• Ability to understand complex instructions.
• Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to the operation of a Bobtail truck.
• General knowledge of the area and ability to route and read a map preferred.
• Fluent oral and written communication skills. Bilingual plus.
• Cooperation with Division Directors.
• Ability to supervise material handler/driver helper when applicable.
• Ability to work with the public in a courteous and professional manner.
• Ability to remain consistent in performance and standards related to material handling.
• Able to work with minimum supervision.

• Valid California Driver’s License, clean driving record, current DMV printout, and be insurable.

• Safe Driving & Compliance – Maintain a clean driving record, follow DOT regulations, perform pre/post‑trip inspections, and report unsafe conditions or incidents.
• Route Execution & Timeliness – Adhere to established delivery/pick‑up schedules, plan efficient routes, and meet daily transportation deadlines.
• Vehicle Maintenance & Inspection – Conduct daily inspections, maintain cleanliness and safety of truck, and report maintenance needs proactively.
• Material Handling & Supervision – Properly load/unload goods, supervise material handlers during transport, ensure safe handling practices, and meet lifting requirements.
• Communication & Reporting – Provide clear communication with dispatch, store staff, and management; complete delivery logs and incident reports accurately and promptly.
• Customer & Public Interaction – Demonstrate professional behavior with donors, clients, and the public during pickup/deliveries; resolve concerns respectfully.
• Team Collaboration – Work cooperatively with other drivers, handlers, and management to support department goals and improve daily operations.
• Attendance & Punctuality – Work cooperatively with other drivers, handlers, and management to support department goals and improve daily operations.
