We are looking for friendly, customer‑oriented, and enthusiastic people to join the Costello's Ace Hardware team. As a company, we are dedicated to delivering an amazing shopping experience to every customer, every time!

Position Summary

A Retail Sales Associate is responsible for assisting customers throughout the buying process. Duties include greeting customers, helping them find products or demonstrate usage, and ringing up purchases on the POS register.

Job Functions
  • Use the E.C.E.T. (Every Customer, Every Time) process with every customer interaction.
  • Greet every customer you make eye contact with, anywhere in the store.
  • Answer customers’ questions and provide information on procedures and policies.
  • Be at your workstation on time and ready for customers on the sales floor.
  • Maintain awareness of promotions and advertise appropriately.
  • Recommend related items and execute the S.A.L.E.S. process.
  • Keep your area neat, clean, stocked and properly priced.
  • Execute daily operational goals and priorities assigned by store management.
  • Assist in training and development of peers.
  • Participate actively in daily huddle meetings.
  • Uphold merchandising and store cleanliness standards.
  • Offer carry‑out service when appropriate.
  • Answer the telephone in a professional manner.
  • Report any missing or damaged merchandise to your supervisor.
  • Address safety concerns immediately.
  • Inform management of pricing errors or when a customer is declined.
  • Take initiative to learn product knowledge and sales skills.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by management.
Register Duties
  • Ring each transaction accurately.
  • Solicit the Loyalty Card before starting a transaction and sign up the customer if needed.
  • Call for help when more than three customers are waiting.
  • Remain engaged at the register when not ringing.
  • Process merchandise returns as needed.
Physical Requirements
  • Walking – frequent, on flat surfaces.
  • Standing – constant, all work performed on feet.
  • Stooping – frequent, to pick up cartons at floor level.
  • Reaching – frequent, up to 6 ft.
  • Lifting – frequent, up to 60 lb., up to 500 repetitions per hour to 4 ft.; comfortably lift up to 25 lb.
  • Hand dexterity – frequent, operate register and paperwork.
  • Pushing/Pulling – frequent, move hand jacks.
  • Carrying – frequent, up to 50 lb. over 10 ft.; occasionally more.
  • Climbing – infrequent, stairs in storage rooms, ladders.
  • Vision – constant, read labels, recognize boxes.
  • Hearing – constant, recognize safety signals.
