An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Out of Hours (OOH) Veterinary Surgeon to join a highly respected Tier 3 small animal hospital in Nottinghamshire. This is a fantastic role for a vet seeking an attractive work‑life balance, a varied caseload, and the support of an experienced, certificate‑led team working within a well‑equipped hospital environment.

The Role

We are seeking a permanent OOH Veterinary Surgeon to support the inpatient and emergency caseload. The role involves:

  • Caring for and working up any inpatients

  • Working alongside a dedicated OOH nursing team who share the same rota
  • Use of a nearby semi‑detached house solely for OOH accommodation during working weeks

This rota structure provides an excellent work‑life balance, with significant downtime between working weeks.

  • Access to Imagyst for rapid haematology and cytology
CT Scanner Installation

Building work begins this winter on an extension to house a CT scanner, with expected completion by March 2026—further expanding diagnostic capability.

  • A varied mix of first‑opinion cases and referral‑level work
  • A large multidisciplinary team including numerous certificate holders
  • Vets with advanced qualifications or studying towards certificates in Surgery, Internal Medicine, Imaging, Ophthalmology, Anaesthesia, Dermatology, Endoscopy, and more
