Retail Section Leader

About The Role

As a Section Leader you’ll be the first point of contact for your team. You will ensure colleagues are always ready to maintain product availability, meet and deliver the expectations of our members by putting colleagues in the right place at the right time to deliver impeccable store standards.

You will support continuous training, developing and coaching of our colleagues through a detailed training programme, while keeping them fully up to date with relevant business updates through daily team huddles.

The successful candidate will have experience coaching, developing and leading teams in a fast‑paced retail environment. They will be able to build and maintain effective working relationships, be flexible and adaptable to support the needs of the business, lead by example and uphold the Company Shop Group values at all times.

• Support the Store Manager in delivering an exceptional section/department on Ambient by leading and motivating colleagues to deliver day‑to‑day operations within your area of responsibility.
• Deliver high store standards and operational statutory compliance across the department, ensuring an exceptional member experience, quality and product availability.
• Ensure all policies, procedures and legal obligations are followed as specified by Company Shop Group.
• Assume responsibility for your area of the store’s operation and maintain the department to an exceptional standard.
• Plan and lead daily huddles for your team, encouraging contributions towards sales and product availability.
• Assist the Store Manager to achieve sales budgets, KPIs and departmental rosters, providing feedback and input on maximising sales opportunities.
• Analyse departmental data to identify opportunities and risks and develop a plan of action for your department.
• Assess costs for all activities and continuously look for ways to simplify and improve current processes.
• Act and deputise for other Section Leaders and the Store Manager as required.
• Ensure all Health, Safety & Environmental policies and practices are upheld, encouraging a culture of good HSE practice.
• Continuously review waste within your department and seek solutions to reduce wastage.
• Engage colleagues within your department and across other departments to support cross‑functional positive relationships.
• Employ a supportive and high‑performing culture with consistent delivery, through excellent leadership and motivation, fully utilising and developing colleague skills and capabilities.
• Lead and develop colleagues to deliver performance against plan and ensure they complete task accountability.
• Communicate and drive relevant KPIs to team members, ensuring all colleagues remain motivated and work effectively and efficiently.
• Ensure all team members adhere to all Company Shop Group policies and procedures.
• Actively promote and encourage reporting of near misses and accidents.
• Support, develop, coach and guide team members through development and succession planning.
• Keep up to date with information relevant to your department and cascade it to your team.
• Create an engaging department where colleagues are trusted by our members and placed at the heart of everything we do.
• Listen to members and use feedback to drive continued improvement of service levels across the department.
• Ensure colleagues uphold our culture and deliver an exceptional member experience.

• Salary: £31,748 per annum.
• Hours:
  
  40 hours per week, 5 days out of 7 (rota basis) – Monday to Friday 2pm–10pm, Saturday 1pm–9pm, Sunday 12pm–8pm.
• Requires flexibility, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
