School Age Group Leaders (10) and School Age Group Leader Substitutes (13)
The Longmeadow Parks & Recreation Department is seeking qualified candidates for PT School Age Group Leaders and Substitutes. The School Age Group Leader oversees the classroom and cares for participating children, plans and implements daily activities and lesson plans, maintains program equipment, ensures positive interaction with staff, children, and parents, cleans up daily snacks, and cleans up at the end of the day.
Successful candidate must have:
- Knowledge of relevant early childhood education practices and regulations related to essential functions.
- Ability to multi‑task and manage conflict; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; maintain good public relations and respond in a courteous and professional manner with an emphasis on children, parents, caretakers, and legal guardians; meet deadlines; work independently.
- Strong communication skills, problem‑solving skills and customer service skills.
Candidate must be at least 18 years of age with a High School diploma or equivalent, be certified in First Aid and CPR within six months of hire, and meet ONE of the following criteria:
- 3 months of experience with 3 credits in child growth and development, human development, elementary education, or related field.
- 6 months of school age experience with 3 months of supervised school age experience.
- 9 months of experience with school age children with at least 3 months of supervised experience with any age group.
- 3 months experience with associate or bachelor’s degree.
School Age Group Leader – Salary $22.08 – $23.43 per hour DOE/DOQ
School Age Group Leader Substitute – Salary $22.08 per hour
