Mechanical Design Engineer

At Blueprint Automation, we design, develop and manufacture case packers and tray packing solutions for flexible and other tough-to-handle packages such as dry packs, pillow bags, and four-sided sealed bags. Mechanical Engineer – Longmont, CO

• Lead the mechanical design of system components for both standard and custom machinery.
• Take responsibility for the master layout and all aspects of the mechanical design.
• Coordinate other mechanical engineers on projects, controls engineers, and software engineers to ensure the final solution meets performance, budget, and schedule requirements.
• Work closely with the entire Mechanical Engineering department and cooperate closely with Controls, Software, Purchasing, Fabrication, Applications, and Service.
• Help generate technical concepts, layouts, technical calculations, and cost calculations.
• Make customer site visits as necessary to help solve field issues.
• Occasional travel may be required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing or a related program and 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment involving robotic experience, preferably in the packaging automation industry.
• Combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.
• Demonstrated ability in machine design, preferred experience in the field of packaging/robotic machines.
• Experience with pneumatics and motor sizing.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to interact and work as a team with other mechanical engineers.
• Knowledge of mechanical engineering development process utilizing Solid Works, AutoCAD, FEA, and related engineering software techniques.
• High awareness of client satisfaction level and client needs.
• Strong problem solver with meticulous attention to detail.
