At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! This role is part of Advanced Concepts and Enterprise Engineering (ACE), supporting Blue Origin’s mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth.
The team fosters innovation and drives engineering workflows of the future, shared solutions and standards, simplicity and lower costs, and manufacturable design. Join Blue Origin as we build infrastructure in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re developing a satellite constellation of orbital data centers, Sunrise, designed to transform how compute infrastructure is deployed and leveraged.
Job Summary:
As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will serve as the box Responsible Engineer (RE) for our Power Regulator products supporting Project Sunrise. Our Power Regulator product line regulates power provided by our solar array, regulates power to and from our batteries, and converts power from our High Voltage DC (HVDC) bus down to low voltage DC power for our compute hardware.
You will own the Power Regulator as an integrated product, leading a multi-disciplinary team of engineers across custom ASIC design, circuit design, electromagnetic design, board layout, thermal management, mechanical design, firmware development, manufacturing, and test. You will be the technical integrator and single point of accountability for the box from requirements definition through design, qualification, flight, and standing up a production line that initially produces megawatt-scale quantities of power regulators annually while quickly scaling to the gigawatt scale.
You will also have programmatic ownership of the Power Regulator and be expected to deliver the product on time and cost-competitive with its terrestrial equivalent. Sunrise will be produced at constellation scale, which means your design decisions directly impact manufacturing yield, unit cost, test throughput, and schedule. This is not a flagship mission environment where schedule is measured in years and cost is secondary.
You will be expected to balance rigorous space-grade reliability with aggressive cost and manufacturability targets, and to deliver a product that is cost-competitive with its terrestrial equivalent.
- Serve as the single-threaded owner and Responsible Engineer (RE) for the Power Regulator product, leading a multidisciplinary team and owning the product architecture, requirements, interfaces, and budgets from concept through production.
- Lead the hands‑on technical design and analysis of high-voltage, high-frequency switching power converters, including topology selection, component sizing (semiconductors, magnetics), control strategy, schematic design, and detailed electrical, thermal, and reliability analyses (WCA, FMEA).
- Own the complete hardware verification and qualification strategy, from developing test plans for prototype and flight hardware to leading anomaly investigations and ensuring the product is fully validated for the space environment.
- Drive the product's transition to high-rate manufacturing, championing Design for Manufacturability/Test (DFM/DFT), defining automated test requirements, and collaborating with production teams to achieve aggressive cost and schedule targets.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering,…
