This position involves molding and/or secondary operations. It requires performing duties related to metal injection molding (MIM) and secondary operations. The operator produces and inspects parts for shipment to customers.
Essential Functions- MIM knowledge and skills to perform production of metal parts.
- Visual inspection or use of measuring devices to ensure all parts meet customer specifications and quality criteria.
- Follow material handling procedures (small hoppers filled every 40-45 minutes, large hoppers up to 4x a shift).
- Apply finishing processes required.
- Complete and maintain documentation on parts accurately.
- Follow written and verbal instructions, asking questions as necessary.
- Accurately input data into the computer system.
- Utilize basic mathematics to track numeric items accurately.
- Cross‑train in both molding operations and secondary work.
- Operate a metal injection molding machine per established cycles and procedures.
- Maintain molds clean and operational to ensure quality parts.
- Learn material designation, handling procedures, and part acceptance/rejection criteria.
- Extract and handle molded parts with precision and care, staging them appropriately.
- Record pertinent information regarding parts being produced on required forms.
- Visually inspect parts for defects and forward to re‑ground, scrap, or next production area as appropriate.
- Maintain a neat and clean work environment adhering to safety procedures.
Perform other work related duties as assigned. May perform other duties in molding operation and secondary, including paperwork completed accurately and efficiently.
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education, Experience, and Requirements- Working knowledge of measuring tools to ensure parts meet customer needs.
- Working knowledge of the MIM process and secondary operations.
- Effective skill in learning and applying knowledge efficiently and accurately.
- Document results of work effort accurately.
- Skill in performing work requiring eye/hand coordination.
- Visual acuity to detect flaws.
- Effective communication skills, oral and written; must read and speak English.
- Adherence to safety policies and procedures.
- Willingness and ability to operate metal injection molding machines safely and accurately.
- Willingness and ability to work assigned hours including overtime on weekends.
- Work sitting and standing for extended periods.
- Lift up to 40 lbs.
