SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHERS - MULTIPLE POSTINGS
We are looking for special education teachers, for both regional and special programs in Riverside School Board establishments. The following positions would be available for the school year.
NATURE OF WORK
The position involves teaching students in groups that are composed primarily or equally of individuals with handicaps, social maladjustments, or learning difficulties. The teacher will adapt and deliver educational programs tailored to meet the unique needs of these students, promoting their academic, social, and emotional development. Assignments may fall within elementary or secondary education or may involve specialized services for students with hearing or visual impairments.
QUALIFICATIONS AND ASSETS
Hold a teaching permit recognized by the MEES.
Master’s degree in special education or inclusive education.
Experience as a resource teacher or special education teacher.
Knowledge of assistive technology.
Superb communication skills.
The ability to tailor their teaching methods to meet the needs of their students.
Ability to work in a team.
SALARY AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Salary and working conditions in accordance with the Teachers’ Collective Agreement.
PROGRAMS
Boost Program – Regional – Good Shepherd The cycle two regional program, Boost (grade 3 class, grade 4 class) provides a structured learning environment in a small group setting for students with significant learning disabilities or delays. An emphasis is placed on the acquisition of foundational literacy skills while meeting the MEQ program of studies requirements for the respected grade levels and increasing the students’ self-confidence by using evidence-based programs and intervention.
Teacher will work in collaboration with a Complementary Services professionals (multidisciplinary team).
CASP Education Program – Regional – Elementary (6‑15) The CASP Education Program is a customized curriculum to address the abilities and needs of students aged 6‑15 with moderate to severe intellectual impairments. The program aims to teach each student the skills required to participate successfully in school, the community, and eventually the workplace. Ultimately, CASP ensures that students are able to contribute meaningfully and have a valued role in society.
CASP Education Program – Regional – Elementary E2 (Same description as above).
CASP Education Program – Regional – Secondary (15‑21) The CASP II Education Program is a customized curriculum to address the abilities and needs of students aged 15‑21 with moderate to severe intellectual impairments. The program aims to teach each student the skills required to participate successfully in school, the community, and the workplace. Ultimately, CASP II ensures that students are able to contribute meaningfully and have a valued role in society.
Spec Ed Specialist – French/Art – REACH (Position description not provided – title only).
Spec Ed Specialist – Physical Education – REACH (Position description not provided – title only).
Special Project – St‑Lambert Elementary – Elementary (Cycle 3 Modified Group) Cycle 3 Modified Group (Modified Curriculum) – A specialized class of fewer than 10 elementary students following a modified academic curriculum. The class operates within a regular school setting, promoting inclusion while addressing diverse and complex learning needs. The group is supported by one classroom teacher, one special education technician and an attendant, allowing for a highly structured, individualized, and supportive learning environment.
Instruction focuses on modified curriculum expectations in all subjects and functional life skills, based on each student’s abilities and individualized education plan (IEP).
Special Project – Good Shepherd – Elementary (Foundation – Specialized Grade One Class) A specialized grade one class at Good Shepherd Elementary School designed to support a small group of young learners, with a maximum of eight students. The program is tailored for children who have a diagnosis or a hypothesis of autism spectrum disorder and/or low adaptive functioning and language delays.
