Mechanical Designer

We are currently seeking a candidate who is qualified for the role of full-time Mechanical Designer. The hours will typically be in the office Monday to Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm. As a Mechanical Designer, you will be a part of the Mechanical Engineering group. You will be responsible for supporting the design of our existing automated welding systems and tooling, implementing continuous improvement, and developing new designs as required.

Almost all of our systems are customized to meet our customers’ specific requirements. Designers are typically assigned to specific machine builds and are responsible for the mechanical design throughout the entire life of each project.

Base salary: $64,000 - $75,000 / year

• Develop machine and fixture designs from concept to detailed drawings.
• Review design interactions with other machines and tools within complex systems.
• Review designs for compliance with technical specifications and requirements.
• Develop technical documents, including testing procedures and manuals.
• Develop design compliance documentation, including FMEA, FME and other reports.
• Interact with customers, internal teams, and vendors to ensure schedule compliance.

• 2-3 years of relevant machine design experience required
• Mechanical Engineering Degree or Mechanical Engineering Technology diploma is required
• 3D CAD experience required;
  Solid Edge experience an asset
• Practical design experience strongly preferred
• Working knowledge of welding processes, specifically laser, GTAW, and PAW, is an asset
• Robotics experience is an asset
