Insight Global is partnering with a leading aerospace manufacturer in Longueuil, QC to hire a Tooling Designer. This team plays a critical role in supporting production by designing custom tooling solutions used for assembly, alignment, lifting, fixturing, and manufacturing of complex aerospace components.
This is an excellent opportunity for early-career engineers and designers looking to build their experience in a high-tech aerospace environment while working directly with manufacturing, engineering, and production teams.
Key Responsibilities- Design custom manufacturing tooling, fixtures, lifting devices, alignment tools, and assembly aids using CATIA or other 3D CAD software.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather tooling requirements and develop practical design solutions.
- Create detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
- Participate in design reviews and implement feedback from engineering and production teams.
- Support the development of new tooling concepts for upcoming manufacturing programs.
- Work closely with tooling shops and manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet operational and production requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, tooling standardization, and process optimization efforts.
- DEC in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, or a related technical discipline OR a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 1 to 5 years of experience in:
Mechanical Design
Tooling Design
Product Design
Manufacturing Engineering
Related engineering environments
- Experience with 3D CAD software (CATIA preferred; Solid Works, Inventor, Creo, NX, or other platforms also considered).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
$30/hr to $38/hr
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
- Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as short-term and long-term disability, life insurance and AD&D. Employees will also have access to a registered retirement savings account with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
