CARETAKER CLASS I
• REGULAR (38 HRS/WK) – SPECIAL NEEDS SCHOOL
Position available for the 2026‑2027 school year at REACH Berkley School, 737 rue Green, Saint‑Lambert, QC J4P 1V9.
Start date to be confirmed.
Expect a high standard of cleanliness comparable to a hospital setting. Specialized training in sanitization protocols is mandatory. The environment includes multiple bathrooms, hygiene rooms, and many students have medical needs such as feeding tubes. Strict adherence to cleanliness and infection control practices is essential for their safety. The facility includes isolation areas and occupational therapy rooms, all requiring meticulous cleaning.
NATURE OF WORK
The primary duty is performing and overseeing maintenance work and preventive upkeep in various educational establishments. The employee is responsible for a total area covering less than 9,275 m² and performs characteristic functions of a maintenance workman, class II.
CHARACTERISTIC FUNCTIONS
Ensure cleanliness of premises and perform maintenance workman, class II duties per schedule.
Oversee maintenance work carried out by non‑specialized workers and keep equipment in good condition.
Inspect and verify lighting, heating, ventilation, and alarm systems; ensure heating equipment operates without need for a stationary engineer.
Carry out preventive upkeep, minor or temporary repairs, report breakdowns, and follow up on repairs.
Repair doors, windows, furniture, and assemble/install materials as needed.
Take measures to ensure fire and theft security; monitor visitors, students, and staff when required.
Prepare rooms and halls as necessary.
Identify needs for materials, products, and equipment; ensure safe use, storage, and disposal of products.
Make suggestions and recommendations regarding products and work methods.
Supervise other non‑specialized employees if required.
Use a computer and required software to perform duties; perform any other related duty as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
At least three years of relevant experience.
General knowledge of operation of heating, ventilation, lighting, and alarm systems.
Basic knowledge of the main construction trades.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Ability to communicate in English and French.
Work with minimal supervision.
Medical certificate confirming physical capability (new employees only).
Valid driver’s license; own vehicle and willingness to travel within the Riverside School Board territory.
Training in general building maintenance is an asset.

$26.62 per hour.
