At Techo-Bloc, our Yard Labourers play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations.
This position is perfect for those who are new to the industry or looking for a stepping stone to a career in manufacturing.
Our yard labourers are true concrete connoisseurs! On a daily basis, you will be required to drive a forklift, prepare orders and operate the scale at the yard entrance.
Forklift- Load flatbed trailers as needed
- Transport various materials and/or supplies for operational needs
- Inspect machinery before the start of each shift and change operators as required
- Ensure the cleaning of the premises and equipment to keep the work environment clean and safe
- Review work completed on previous shift and work to be completed according to priorities established by the production supervisor
- Notify the production supervisor of any mechanical breakdowns
- Operate the forklift safely and meticulously
- Be very vigilant in the method of driving, in order to avoid accidents and/or overturns: pedestrians, buildings, fixed equipment, trucks and other machinery
- Use the forklift according to its capabilities and limits
- Outdoor work environment
- Transport raw materials, finished products and equipment in the plant, either manually or with mechanical equipment;
- Perform complete examination of finished product
- Sort, pack, crate and wrap materials and products;
- Performs other laborer and worker duties;
- Record weight of all inbound
- Enter reports and data into computer system as needed;
- Maintain accurate paperwork
- Communicate with yard personnel, Customer Service, production personnel, and others as needed
- You will use your manual skills. You will frequently be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (23kg). We won't hide it from you, this is a physically demanding position;
- Manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination and a combination of postures: sitting, standing and walking required;
- Punctuality, concentration and attention to detail;
- Computer skills;
- Team spirit and collaboration;
- Valid forklift operator's competency card or to be renewed
- Experience as a sit-down forklift operator (1 year minimum)
- Self-motivated and proactive
- Good attendance record
- Resourcefulness
- Punctual person
- Ensure compliance with work safety standards and instructions
