Position: Full Time Interim Registered Nurse

Full-Time Interim Registered Nurse (Rainycrest Long Term Care)

The Nursing department has an opening for a Full-Time Interim Registered Nurse at the Rainycrest Long Term Care.

Qualifications Necessary
  • Current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current CPR certification
  • Demonstrated strong nursing practice, skill, and judgement
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including distinguished verbal communication abilities
  • Critical thinking, leadership and mentoring skills
  • Ability to work with all computer systems and applications

Basic Responsibilities
  • Perform according to the Standards of Nursing Practice set out by the College of Nurses of Ontario and in compliance with the policies, procedures, and standards of Riverside Health Care facilities.
  • Accept clinical responsibility and professional accountability for the care delivered to assigned residents.
  • Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary health care team, fulfilling responsibilities as a member of the nursing discipline.
  • Comply with the Ethical Framework for Nurses in Ontario.
  • Specific Duties
  • Provide nursing care to residents whose physical, mental, social, and emotional needs are stabilized.
  • Assist the Registered Nurse with the care of residents whose needs are not stabilized.
  • Assist the Registered Nurse with assessment and development of residents’ needs, plans of nursing care, and evaluation of the nursing care plans (Nursing Process).
  • Observe signs and symptoms pertinent to residents’ conditions and report any changes to the Registered Nurse on duty.
  • Perform procedures for which the RN has been prepared during the training program and assume responsibility for nursing care, direction, and guidance in the absence of a Registered Nurse on duty.
  • Perform treatments, report to the Registered Nurse on duty, and record in the Resident’s Treatment record.
  • Assist individual residents in meeting proper nutritional needs, and help maintain a correct fluid balance, reporting any problems or complaints to the Registered Nurse.
  • Assist and direct Health Care Aides to provide help or advice at all times, maintaining a good working relationship.
  • Assist wherever possible with the rehabilitation of residents, in accordance with resident care plans, including participation in the Reality Orientation Program if directed.
  • Assist and encourage residents in activities of daily living.
  • Assist in maintaining a physical, psychosocial, and spiritual environment that meets the needs of residents.
  • Assist in providing for the safety and welfare of residents, with knowledge of the Home’s Emergency Plans.
  • Provide support, help, and guidance to residents and their families at all times.
  • Deal tactfully and courteously with residents, their families, visitors, and all staff of the Home.
  • Ensure the Resident Bill of Rights is upheld.
  • Assume responsibility for personal and occupational growth and development, i.e., attendance at staff meetings and in‑service programs.
  • Demonstrate the ability and competence to work with all computer systems and applications within the acute/long‑term care setting, such as but not limited to Point Click Care, Word, Excel.
  • Participate in the department’s Quality Improvement Program.
  • Carry out all work assignments safely and be knowledgeable of and in compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and procedures (i.e., Occupational Health and Safety Act).
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • Responsible To
    • This position is responsible to the Director of Care, Rainycrest Long Term Care.
    • Salary as per Union Schedule.
    Hours of Work

    This position can be a combination of days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

    Position Available

    This Full Time Interim position will commence ASAP and the end date is yet to be determined.
