Position: TECHNICIEN(NE) EN TRAVAIL SOCIAL – (100 %) REM PLACEMENT TEMPORAIRE
Social Work Technician – Temporary Replacement (100%)
Full‑time temporary replacement position available starting July 1, 2026 at Riverside School Board, 7525 chemin de Chambly, Saint‑Hubert, Québec J3Y 0N7. The successful candidate will work under the director of complementary services.

NATURE OF WORK
The principal and customary work involves applying social aid techniques designed to promote prevention in matters pertaining to drug addiction, violence, absenteeism, dropping out of school, and providing individual or collective assistance to students experiencing related behavioural problems. The employee also helps students who require assistance with other problems of a personal, family, social or other nature that could affect their behaviour.

CHARACTERISTIC FUNCTIONS
The employee works with teachers, the multidisciplinary team and external resources to analyse problems submitted and to participate in the search for appropriate solutions. They collaborate with youth protection organisations, report cases of abuse, may cooperate with police forces, participate in consultation groups and case studies, refer cases to external organisations and may be called upon to act as a witness in court.

Under the responsibility of school administration and in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team, the employee participates in developing and drawing up individualized education plans, selects measures, draws up action plans, applies measures, evaluates objectives attained and participates in evaluation of the plan.

The employee organises and synthesises data on a problem to evaluate and find solutions, records observations and interventions, prepares and updates files and provides counselling.

They help students overcome social, cultural or material problems related to family, social or school environment, advise and if necessary, refer them to appropriate resources.

They inform students of disorders or dependencies, hold meetings, prepare information bulletins for posting and conduct related activities.

The employee meets with students, parents and teachers to provide advice, information, documents and referrals.

May be required to use a computer and necessary software.

May train less‑experienced technicians and coordinate support staff in implementing programmes involving technical operations for which they are responsible.

If needed, performs any other related duty.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Hold a Diploma of College Studies in Social Service or a diploma or an attestation of studies recognised as equivalent by competent authority.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Experience working with students and particularly, difficult students, both one on one and in group situations;

Experience working with adolescents with drug dependence;

Experience in promoting attendance with students presenting a high risk of drop out;

Experience with community outreach programmes and community service;

Experience working as part of a multi‑disciplinary team;

Strong communication skills in both English and French, oral and written.

SALARY
$994.00 to $1430.80 per 35‑hour week, according to qualifications and experience.

SCHEDULE
Monday to Friday – 09:00 to 16:30;
Meal break – 60 minutes.
