The Tool Service organization offers manufacturing, consulting, design and revision services for tooling. These tools are used for manufacturing, assembly and testing for programs in service and under development (NPI). As experts, we provide turn‑key service worldwide to all Pratt & Whitney Canada production sites.

What will your day-to-day look like?
  • Define and implement a long‑term vision for tooling design within the organization.
  • Inspire, mentor and develop a senior designer team to achieve excellence.
  • Champion a culture of innovation, continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
  • Lead the development of complex tooling systems, ensuring designs meet the highest standards of safety, precision, durability and manufacturability.
  • Serve as a technical authority for design reviews, advanced problem solving and risk mitigation.
  • Oversee the planning, execution and delivery of multiple tooling design projects simultaneously.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget and aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Introduce and implement cutting‑edge design methodologies, materials and digital tools.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership, manufacturing and R&D to align tooling strategies with business objectives.
  • Represent the tooling design function in strategic decision‑making forums.
  • Build strong partnerships with suppliers and technology partners to leverage emerging innovations.
  • Drive initiatives that reduce cost, improve quality and accelerate time-to‑market.
  • Establish and maintain design standards and best practices.
  • Stay at the forefront of industry trends, patents and technological advancements.
What do you need to be successful?
  • 10+ years in tooling design, with significant leadership experience in complex, high‑volume manufacturing environments.
  • Recognized subject‑matter expert or thought leader in tooling design and development.
  • Proven ability to maintain a global perspective, ensuring cohesive management of the discipline while driving operational fluidity and efficiency.
  • Exceptional leadership and strategic thinking capabilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in CAD/PLM systems, primarily Catia.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to influence at all organizational levels.
  • Expertise in ASME Y14.5M standard.
  • Deep understanding of different assembly and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in leading personnel on‑site as well as remotely, and managing projects.
