About the job
Are you an experienced commercial construction superintendent who has demonstrated success at managing large, complex ($20M-$50M) projects? Are you passionate about delivering excellence in quality and safety? Our superintendents hold leadership roles with significant responsibilities for overseeing project operations, managing field teams, and ensuring that project owners’ high expectations are exceeded.
And we are looking for the next great addition to our team! It could be you if you have:
- Several years of commercial construction experience, with a successful track record of managing complex projects
- In-depth knowledge of construction processes, techniques and building codes
- Expertise in project planning, scheduling and budget management
- Strong and demonstrated leadership and communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with an eye for detail
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications
- OSHA certification and a commitment to upholding strict safety standards
- Oversee all onsite construction activities and ensure projects are executed efficiently and according to schedule
- Perform regular quality inspections to verify high-quality workmanship and compliance with project documents
- Enforce strict safety protocols to maintain a secure work environment and to minimize incidents
- Review and interpret project drawings and specifications and communicate any necessary changes to the team
- Manage the onsite project team, handling any conflicts or disputes while maintaining a positive working atmosphere
- Coordinate with the Project Manager on project updates and costs
- Regularly communicate with clients, addressing concerns or questions, and maintain strong relationships
- Track project progress, update schedules, and report any potential delays or issues to the Project Manager
- Manage and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers in accordance with project plans
- Minimum fifteen (15) years full time professional experience in the management and administration of various programs and projects under programs to include, scope development, planning and design, budget and funding allocation, cash flow management, schedule evaluation and recovery (as appropriate) and close-out.
- Minimum six (6) years’ experience in managing programs in a public or educational agency, with full responsibility for coordinating complex activities and associated teams.
- Experience in managing multiple education or public agency projects concurrently is preferred.
- Large program and/or project experience, e.g. $50M+ project size to $300M+/- program size.
- Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management. Candidates who do not meet the education requirements may supplement them with experience.
- A licensed architect or engineer is preferred, but not required.
- CCM certification through CMAA is desirable.
Candidates who do not meet the education requirements may substitute experience yearly. Requirements may substitute experience on a year for year basis.
