Live-In Teen Mentor – Heartlight Ministries

We provide a living and working environment in a therapeutic home setting for teens. The residential staff are the backbone of the program, creating love and acceptance for 60 young people.

Pay Range

Base pay range: $28,000.00/yr - $40,000.00/yr.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise residents in a residential setting: direct supervision, ensuring health, safety, and well-being.
  • Adhere to state standards and Heartlight’s policy guidelines in supervision.
  • Maintain staff/child ratio at least 1:8.
  • Work towards effective ministry spirit, maintain communication with house director, build relationships, enforce house rules, oversee weekly schedule, maintain cleanliness, purchase groceries, oversee chores, and manage safety.
  • Provide weekly staffing reports, receipts, resident orientations, assist in discipline process, and document resident progress.
  • Maintain a Christian attitude and serve as a positive example for staff and residents.
  • Communicate and collaborate with program staff and other residents.
Qualifications
  • Willing to relocate to East Texas on facility property.
  • Unmarried with no children.
  • Personal relationship with the Lord displayed in word, deed, and action.
  • Ages 21-33, physically capable.
  • High School Diploma.
  • Teachable, relational, dependable.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Strong communication, organizational, conflict resolution, and time‑management skills.
Job Hours and Vacation
  • Schedule:

    5 days on – 2 days off.
  • 25 days Paid Time Off in the first year.
Compensation
  • Base salary at $20,000.00 annually, with $400/month increase every 3 months.
  • Potential promotion to House Director includes additional $400/month.
  • Annual compensation ranges from $27,193 to $30,392.
  • Room and board valued at $9,000 per year.
  • Health insurance valued at $3,960 per year, dental insurance at $400 per year.
  • After a year of service, eligibility for Heartlight’s 401(k) retirement program.
  • Option to raise additional $10,000 via Deputation Process.
