Komatsu is looking for a skilled tradesperson in the Longview, TX area that specializes in the installation, maintenance, and repair of instrumentation and control systems and equipment necessary for the operation of CNC Machines.

Industrial Controls Technician installs, maintains, and repairs electrical instrumentation, and controls equipment. This position requires extensive knowledge of instrumentation and controls components as well as electrical safety codes and regulations. They must be professional, technical, and mechanically proficient.

Tasks performed by the Controls Technician on CNC Machinery can often be physically demanding. In order to install and repair equipment, they may need to kneel, crawl, climb, and stand for extended periods of time. They must also be able to operate tools in close proximity to electrical components.

Controls Technicians must also be able to understand and make decisions based on technical documents, such as blueprints, schematics, and written or verbal instructions. They must also be motivated to work on their own and as part of a team. Strong communication skills are a necessary part of this position and be capable of working with limited supervision.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Safe work habits and performance, advocacy for safe work conditions, ability to perform risk analysis and determine safe methods for all conditions encountered.
  • Read and interpret machine prints and schematics for electrical, controls and instrumentation, fluid power systems, and HVAC.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and practices for proper task planning from establishment of job scope to determination of materials/part needs and proper sequence for execution of the task.
  • Familiarity with CNC Mills, Grinders, and Lathes from manufacturers such as Giddings & Lewis, Gleason, Okuma, Daewoo-Puma, Bourn & Koch, OMV-Parpas, Palmary, and Nicolas Correa.
  • Knowledge and experience with CNC control systems, variable frequency drives, PLC's, and relay control systems. Controls manufacturers such as Siemens, Fanuc, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, and ABB.
  • Capable of troubleshooting complex machines and process problems following a logical approach to identify and determine corrective actions, including root cause analysis of failures.
  • Assist in mechanical repairs and replacements involving ball screws, spindles, main spindle bearings, axis scales, and conveyors; as well as machine leveling and alignments.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED. Technical School Certificate or Degree Program in Instrumentation and Electrical Maintenance or Controls.
  • Previous experience with CNC Machines preferable but will accept Electronics Technician or Process Controls Technician Level of experience.
  • Computer skills, good verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and abilities to prepare machine condition reports.
  • Work effectively within a Team and require limited supervision.

    Comfortable working at heights up to 40 feet.
  • Must provide on own tools (primarily hand tools but will be provided a minimum tool list). Large hand and power tools are company provided.
  • Day shift position but will be required to work some overtime days and weekend shifts, in addition to some holiday periods.
  • Entrance testing to determine knowledge, aptitude, and suitability for the position.
  • Must be able to pass drug test and physical examination.
