Temporary - School Crossing Guard

Job Overview

Performs a variety of crossing guard duties on behalf of the Longview Police Department; provides for the safety of pedestrians at designated crossing areas; and performs other related duties as required. Provides for the safe crossing of streets by students at designated crossing areas. Stops vehicle traffic and escorts children across intersections/roadways. Instructs and advises children regarding safe crossing practices. Monitors vehicles for unsafe and/or reckless driving practices in school zones.

Documents and reports vehicle license number and physical description to authorities. Monitors physical hazards at assigned crossing points including dangerous road conditions, malfunctioning traffic control signals, and/or construction.

• High School Diploma or equivalent is desirable; no experience required (entry-level).
• Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License.
• Work performed outdoors – standing for extended periods, walking, lifting up to 10 pounds, and exposure to variable weather conditions and vehicle traffic.
