Lead Teacher ResponsibilitiesThe Lead Teacher is responsible for an Early Childhood Center classroom, supervising 13‑15 children, planning classroom activities and meal times, and coordinating parent‑teacher conferences and home visits with families. The position also involves maintaining records for all children and families and working closely with parents, community partners, and other staff members.
Current Position Details- Head Start classroom at Barnes North
- 11.5 months, 40 hours per week
- Schedule:
7:00 am – 4:00 pm
This position is classified as a Early Childhood Program Specialist 3 under Washington State Classification Specifications and reports to the Area Manager.
Final date to receive applications: The position will be open until 01/04/26, with an initial review date of 01/05.
Compensation: Successful candidates typically start toward the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increases.
Examples ofDuties & Responsibilities
- Carry out and implement an appropriate Early Childhood Center based‑program for 13‑15 preschool children.
- Provide and maintain an environment reflective of the Creative Curriculum philosophy, framework, and components of ECERS (Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale).
- Develop and utilize lesson plans, approved curricula that reflect mandated elements, parental and cultural influences, and emphasis on the needs of individual children. Plan for each child’s social, intellectual, emotional, and physical development, and develop child‑ and adult‑directed educational activities based on the strengths, interests, and needs of children in the classroom.
- Include parent planning in the classroom, home, and center activities.
- Record and evaluate each child’s growth and development to plan activities that suit individual needs.
- Submit required reports and communications, including lesson plans, field‑trip requests, monthly newsletters and calendars, end‑of‑month reports, weekly attendance reports, supply and form requests, and assessments according to program timeframe.
- Maintain case management of the child’s site file.
- Collaborate with parents and staff to support child development and program success.
