Position Overview
Lower Columbia College is seeking a dynamic, energetic, and creative instructor committed to community college students and their success. This position will be responsible for teaching courses in Biology, which may include General Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, and Microbiology. Courses are delivered through multiple modalities including online, hybrid, and in‑person.

Contract RatesLecture rate: $80.68 per contact hour ($887.48 per credit).
Lab rate: $60.08 per contact hour ($1,321.76 per credit).
Field‑based experience rate: $43.64 per contact hour ($1,440.16 per credit).
- Provide quality instruction in the classroom and online, adapting to a variety of teaching/learning situations, and maintaining up to date content.
- Teach and supervise biology lab experiences, being responsible for the safe and proper use of laboratory equipment and materials.
- Effectively use computer applications/technology for instruction and communication as appropriate.
- Assess, evaluate, and document student learning and achievement of course outcomes, and provide timely feedback to support learning including individualized support.
- Communicate and interact effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and staff as a member of the educational team.
- Uphold LCC policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Typical QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Biology or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Teaching experience in the first two years of college biology.
- Experience using technology to enhance student learning, including using a Learning Management System.
- Ability to communicate knowledge and skills in both oral and written forms to students who represent a broad spectrum of ages, abilities, ethnicity, education, and cultural backgrounds.
