Peace Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist for a Full‑time position in the Operating Room n Medical Center in Longview, Washington. Consider joining our OR Team in the following role:

  • 1.0 FTE Day shift Surgical Technologist
  • Work four 10‑hour shifts each week, plus rotational call
  • 5 OR Suites
  • Davinci XI for general and GYN

Job Summary

This position is responsible for assisting the Surgical team during operative procedures by performing a variety of technical duties to primarily assist in responsibility for the preparation and maintenance of the surgical sterile field for the operative patient.

Essential Functions
  • Arrange and inventories sterile set‑up for operation and passes items as needed to the surgical team.
  • Understand and apply the principles of asepsis. Establish and maintain sterile field and assure team maintains sterile environment.
  • Assist in preparation and moving of patients.
  • Cleans, disinfects, and sterilizes instrumentation. Assists with clean‑up and room turnover.
  • Access computer information as needed, such as preference lists and digital images.
  • Participates in all safety initiatives. Adheres to programs such as SCIP and SCOAP quality initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Required
    :
    Completion of a Surgical Technology Program or minimum of 1-year surgical technologist work experience
  • Preferred: 1-year surgical technologist experience in a full-service Operating Room
  • Required:

    Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs

    Washington State Surgical Technologist Registration
  • Required
    :
    Basic Life Support Certification for healthcare provider
  • Preferred:
    Certified Surgical Technologist
Skills
  • Well organized, detail oriented and self‑motivated (Required)
  • Ability to coordinate activities and work collaboratively with others (Required)
  • Ability to execute detailed procedures with accuracy and precision (Required)
  • Basic computer/keyboarding skills including MS Office applications (Required)
  • Understanding of operating room protocols (Required)
Working Conditions
  • Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
  • Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
  • Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
  • Frequent reaching/ bending/ squatting/ kneeling/ grasping.
  • Lift/Carry:
    Frequently up to 15 lbs. Occasionally up to 20 lbs.
  • Push/Pull:
    Frequently up to 20 lbs. force. Occasional up to 30 lbs. force.
Environmental Conditions
  • Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
  • Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.
Mental/Visual
  • Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
