Role OverviewThe Welder will be an integral member of the Nucor Skyline team, bringing a strong and consistent work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering the quality our customers expect.
Responsibilities include:
- Welding structural steel parts as specified by drawings or prints.
- Safely producing quality products in a timely manner.
- Maintaining housekeeping standards.
- Obtaining and maintaining all required welding certifications.
- Working any shift, including weekends and holidays as required.
Candidates may be required to pass a site‑specific weld test and, after signing an offer letter, must pass a background check, fitness for duty exam, and drug screen (urinalysis and hair follicle) in accordance with applicable law. Safety is paramount; candidates must demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
CompensationStarting pay: $21.19 per hour plus a weekly production bonus. Typical annual earnings approximately $78K.
Minimum Requirements- High school diploma or GED.
- Welding certification from a college, technical, or trade school, or at least two years of welding experience in an industrial environment.
- Experience with air arc gouging and plasma torch usage.
- Manufacturing or production environment experience.
- Experience reading measuring devices (e.g., tape measures, gauges, micrometers).
- Experience reading blueprints.
- Experience working with welding symbols and common weld defects.
- Experience operating a standard overhead crane.
