Job Summary
Animal Care Technician – Longview Campus at Humane Society for Southwest Washington. May be full‑time or part‑time, FLSA nonexempt.
Join the team to provide daily husbandry, health monitoring and preventative care for all animals, support shelter operations, and assist volunteers.
Responsibilities- ACT‑1 – Basic duties: feeding, health monitoring, cleaning of animal areas, disease control, safety compliance, stocking and reporting, and performing additional associated tasks.
- ACT‑2 – In addition to ACT‑1 duties: public interaction, preventive medicine assistance, moving animals, data entry, volunteer support, closing duties, and team‑specific responsibilities for Cats, Dogs, and Small Animals.
- ACT‑3 – In addition to ACT‑1 & 2 duties: cross‑training across all teams, independent decision making, animal behavioral evaluations, intake examinations, vaccinations, mentoring, and advanced care tasks.
- Follow safety guidelines and promptly address safety or compliance concerns.
- Maintain professional communication with staff, volunteers, partners, and the public.
- Show judgment, teamwork, excellence, and adherence to policies.
- Use objective, positive language and support positive reinforcement training methods.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow instructions & SOPs.
- Ability to become certified in safe animal handling and Fear Free Sheltering within 90 days.
- Physical capability to perform cleaning tasks, lifting up to 50 lbs with assistance, and work up to 10 hours per day.
- Strong communication skills, computer proficiency (Microsoft Office), and ability to work in a fast‑paced, diverse environment.

Hourly pay range: $16.66 – $18.78 per hour, depending on experience. DOE.
