Technical work monitoring compliance with emergency response for hazardous waste. Identifies and segregates hazardous materials. Ensures hazardous waste is properly packed for storage and shipment.

Salary will be determined depending on qualifications of candidates who exceed the minimum requirements as outlined within the job description.

Additional compensation based on licensure.

Responsibilities

Identifies and segregates hazardous materials. Manages wastes and containers to ensure they are properly stored and labeled. Maintains the household hazardous waste collections including e‑scraps (CPU's/monitors/tv).

Maintains used oil igloos located throughout the county. Transports tires/propane tanks to the landfill location.

Assists in coordinating the shipment of hazardous waste, e‑scrap, and other waste streams.

Secures facilities in preparation for natural disasters. Assists in surveying damage after such events.

Develops and maintains logs and files as needed to ensure compliance and accountability.

Additional Duties

Performs other related work as required. In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties.

Requirements

High School Diploma/GED and two (2) years experience required; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.

Training with Hazardous materials. Hazardous training/Forklift operator/Safety training/Driving training/PPE training.

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to understand and carry out directions. Ability to plan work assignments.
