Job Overview
Full‑Time Medical Assistant position at Gastro Health. You will work in an endoscopy office environment, assisting providers, managing patient flow, and providing direct patient care and administrative support.
Duties- Room patients for office visits: greet, take vitals, enter history into the EMR, and update medication lists.
- Maintain exam room cleanliness and supplies.
- Assist providers with rectal examinations and hemorrhoid banding procedures.
- Perform tests such as Fibroscans, bone density, and breath tests.
- Obtain prior authorizations for medications and infusion drugs.
- Track and renew infusion medication logs with insurance providers.
- Schedule follow‑up testing and procedures after office visits and from PCP requests.
- Speak Spanish or Portuguese (a plus).
- Manage phone triage and act under provider direction.
- Administer treatments and procedures in line with physician orders.
- Provide patient education and comfort to meet psychological and physiological needs.
- Process prescription refills following clinic protocol.
- Build positive relationships with clinic staff, managers, and providers.
- Initiate cross‑functional actions to ensure seamless patient care.
- Follow OSHA and state health department safety procedures.
- Complete other administrative tasks as needed.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- 2+ years’ experience as a Medical Assistant (preferred).
- Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA) preferred.
- Endoscopy office experience required.
- Experience scheduling and taking patient vitals.
