Position

Purpose and Objectives

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide emergency mental health assessments, crisis interventions, groups, admission, discharge planning and stabilization support for participants.

Essential Job Functions
  • Perform crisis intervention for participants and provide face‑to‑face counseling to promote stabilization of a crisis situation.
  • Conduct crisis behavioral health assessments and determine needed interventions to ensure the safety of clients and others based on mental status assessments.
  • Interact and consult with the treatment team to triage best placement.
  • Assist with admission and discharge planning.
  • Facilitate small groups as needed.
  • Carry out duties as a health officer in Lorain County, assessing the mental status of persons to determine safety according to emergency medical certificate guidelines.
  • Work with families, significant others, community agencies, and law enforcement to assess and intervene with participants reported to be in crisis.
  • Meet with community members to increase awareness of crisis services and suicide prevention.
  • Attend meetings at the main Riveon location, either in person or via Microsoft Teams as scheduled.
  • Train students and new staff working in crisis as needed.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork on time and follow procedures and clinical standards, including contact notes, hub shift reports, crisis alerts, billable service notes, diagnosis documents, incident reports, etc.
  • Consult with prescribers and other CRC staff regarding participant assessments and crisis interventions.
  • Maintain competence and annual certification in CPR, First Aid, Physical Crisis Intervention, and Rape Crisis training.
  • React to change and stress productively and handle other tasks as assigned with the support of the manager and crisis team.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.
  • Get along with others and work as a team.

  • Perform any other tasks as assigned with relevance to position, role, and licensure.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
  • Good working knowledge of DSM‑V, mental health assessments, crisis intervention techniques, substance use disorders, and psychotropic medications.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to resolve conflicts when working with community agencies, multidisciplinary teams, and the public on hotline calls.
  • Knowledge of Riveon Mental Health and Recovery policy and procedures, including client rights, confidentiality, and health and safety issues.
  • Sensitivity to different cultures.
Requirements/Qualifications
  • Licensed in the State of Ohio as an LSW is required.
  • Preferred: dual licensed LSW and LCDC‑II or higher; or LSW with dual scope including substance use treatment.
  • Experience in both mental health and chemical dependency fields is preferred.
  • Basic computer skills required, including familiarity with Windows and Microsoft Office.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records is a plus.
