Kenyon College is conducting a search for a qualified candidate to fill the position of Digital Stewardship Librarian. This 12 month, full time, position is primarily on campus with some remote flexibility.
Help Kenyon's digital collections last
Kenyon's digital collections, from digitized treasures to born-digital records, need someone to make sure they're findable, usable, and preserved. As our Digital Stewardship Librarian, you'll be that person: the expert who shapes how we describe, protect, and share our collections, and who helps the campus community get the most from them.
You’ll join the Special Collections and Archives Department, report to the Director, and work with library colleagues and partners across the college. If you're a recent graduate with a degree in digital librarianship or something similar, this is a great place to make your mark.
What you'll do Keep our digital collections safe and sustainable- Prepare digitized and born-digital materials for ingest, stabilization, and storage, following best practices and archival standards
- Serve as the primary administrator of Kenyon's repository platform, Digital Kenyon (Digital Commons), and related preservation tools, building the processes to describe, ingest, publish, manage, migrate, and preserve our digital objects
- Be the go-to expert on preservation systems, digitization workflows, and lifecycle management, and advise on the policies that guide them
- Grow and manage the tools and services that keep our digital collections scalable, and define requirements for the digital assets we create or acquire
- Partner with faculty and campus stakeholders on grants, research, and course-integrated projects
- Lead digital projects from plan to delivery, translating between technical and non-technical audiences so everyone knows the goals, timelines, and deliverables
- Teach and consult: train faculty, students, and staff, and help them put digital tools to work
- Explore new preservation and institutional repository platforms with your colleagues, and migrate content between systems when the time comes
- Serve as liaison to academic programs, potentially in data, computing, and math connected disciplines
- Teach in courses, hold research consultations, and develop discipline-specific resources
- Work with faculty and students on information, digital, and AI literacy
- Represent Kenyon in the OhioLINK and The Five Colleges of Ohio consortia
- Attend conferences, workshops, and seminars to keep learning
- Track usage of digital resources, share best practices with colleagues, and recommend purchases to library leadership
- An ALA-accredited master's degree in library science or equivalent, completed by June 2027, or a related degree plus library experience
- Education or experience in digital collections, digitization, born-digital archives, digital preservation, metadata, or related work in a library, archive, museum, cultural heritage organization, or similar setting
- Hands-on experience with digital collections or repositories, especially using Digital Commons
- Knowledge of current metadata schemes and standards
- Strong communication and organizational skills, including clear documentation processes
- Familiarity with trends in digital libraries, digitization standards, preservation, and rights management
- Comfort working independently and as part of a team
- A knack for learning new technologies quickly and teaching them to others, whatever their technical background
$58,000–$64,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
