Youth Pastor: Pohick Church

The youth pastor will work with the pastoral team in leading, developing, and guiding the Pohick Church youth program (grades 6-12.) The youth pastor will strive to encourage all youth to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and will serve as a faithful example of Christian living. The youth pastor is encouraged to attend student functions at schools and home school events, grow relationships with the education community, and support students and their families with prayer and spiritual guidance.

The youth pastor shall have the following duties and responsibilities:

• Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings.
• Attend 10:30am Sunday services and “Holy Day” services. (Christmas, Easter, All Saints, etc.)
• Plan, oversee, grow, and coordinate the church’s weekly Sunday evening youth ministry program. (EYC
  - Episcopal Youth Community)
• Design, oversee, and examine curriculum for weekly EYC and youth Sunday school (6 th
  -12 th grade)
• Assist with the planning and implementation of youth events such as retreats, beach days, ski trips, etc.
• Assist with acolyte training and oversight.
• Assist with planning and implementation of youth services. (Youth Sunday, etc.)
• Develop positive relationships with youth and their parents.
• Share program plans through social media, e-news and other available forms of communication.
• Incorporate youth into various church ministries.
• Assist with the planning and implementation of annual mission trip and local mission opportunities.

• Must be willing to complete Safe Church Training program through the Diocese of Virginia.
• Familiarity with youth ministry programs and youth curriculums
• Outgoing and friendly personality
• An ability to relate to both youth and adults.
• Basic understanding of Holy Scripture and Christian theology
• Familiarity with liturgical church tradition (preferred)
