Duration: 06 months Contract on W2 (Possible extension)

Position

Description:

• Performs The Following, EPA Approved, Biological, Chemical, And Physical Analyses Including Appropriate Calculations On Wastewater, Surface Water, Groundwater, Leachate, Sludge, Ash Compost, Sediment, And Hazardous Waste, Industrial Wastes, And Other Environmental Samples:
  Alkalinity, NOX (Nitrate/Nitrite), Bod, Ortho Phosphorus, Chlorophyll A, Chloride, pH, Cyanide, TKN,
  
  E. Coli, Total Phosphorus, Total Residual Chlorine, NH3, TSS/VSS, Nitrate, and additional tests as necessary following all QA And QC steps as outline in the SOP for the analysis to ensure instruments and procedures are operating properly.
• Maintains required documentation for each analysis.
• Maintains a clean and orderly workspace.
• Cleans and sterilizes glassware, maintains laboratory equipment as recommended by manufacturer and outlined in branch SOPs.
• Conducts preventative and routine maintenance on laboratory instruments and support equipment.
• Determines and checks analytical results.
• Reviews and validates data and forwards completed bench sheets for entry into the LIMS database.
• Prepares Chemical Reagents, Standards Curves, Bacteriological Media and performs other duties as assigned.
• Prepares chemical reagents for use in analyses, and standard curves to ensure the accuracy of results.
• Completes quality control logs and prepares quality control reports.
• Creates and maintains a safe and healthy laboratory environment by following all laboratory safety and health policies as written.
• Has read all required safety and health information to include:
  Environmental Monitoring Chemical Hygiene Plan & Safety Manual, Hazcom Presentation, Hazard Assessment and PPE training, and Safety Data Sheets
• Troubleshoot problems with laboratory instrumentation as necessary.
• Performs routine maintenance on equipment.
• Cleans and sterilize glassware and other materials as appropriate.
• Performs other work as requested by management.

Skills Required:

• Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or a university with a degree in chemistry, biology or related science; and one year of directly related experience.
