The University of California, Irvine is seeking qualified candidates for a Clinical Associate Hospitalist position for clinic coverage at the UCI site in Los Alamitos. The successful candidate must be board eligible/certified in Hospital Medicine, be licensed or eligible in California, and hold an M.D./D.O. or equivalent degree.
Minimum Qualifications:
- M.D./D.O. or equivalent degree
- Board‑certified or eligible in Hospital Medicine
- Eligible for California licensure
- Experience in providing and/or oversight of care
Total Compensation: The base salary is $311,000‑$390,000 with potential incentives based on performance and experience. In addition to salary, UCI offers medical insurance, sick and vacation time, retirement savings plans, and various discounts and perks.
Clinical responsibilities will involve:
- Coordinate and ensure patient care coverage for Medicine services
- Conduct face‑to‑face rounds with the care team
- Supervise residents in MICU, CCU, and ward services
- Evaluate new admissions to cardiac and medical ICUs
- Monitor patient stability and triage cases
- Oversee consultations and collaborate with specialists
- Participate in family meetings and patient care discussions
- Review summaries of new admissions from admitting residents
- Ensure timely completion of patient notes within 72 hours
- Maintain compliance with medical record standards and institutional policies
Primary responsibilities of this position:
- Maintain the highest standards of safety and quality in patient care
- Supervise and mentor trainees, including residents and fellows
- Serve as an educator for students, residents, and fellows
- Complete trainee evaluations promptly
- Model professionalism and patient‑centered care
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives
- Complete computer‑based training and timesheets on schedule
- Support development of clinical protocols and care delivery optimization
Required:
- Board‑certified and have California licensure
- Active and current DEA certification
- Demonstrated experience in quality improvement to improve patient outcomes
- Leadership skills; ability to motivate, inspire, communicate with faculty, residents, staff, and peers to maintain a professional, team‑based approach to patient care
- Adherence to departmental policies, procedures, and objectives while complying with all UC policies and procedures, maintaining patient confidentiality, and complying with all state and federal privacy laws
