Surgical Assistant, Operating Room Nurse, RN Nurse
The Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) is under the supervisor of the Director of Surgical Services , Nurse Manager and Surgeon.
The RNFA is a perioperative nurse who functions as an assistant to the Surgeon in the OR during surgical procedures .
The RNFA performs assistant duties for the Surgeon in the pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative periods according to standardized hospital policies. The RNFA provides leadership working cooperatively with ancillary, nursing and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for nursing practice in surgical setting.
I addition to assisting, responsibilities may include circulating, scrubbing and other duties. Care is provided to pediatric through geriatric patient populations. Acts in the absence of a physician.
Qualifications:
Required:
Current AHA certifications
Three year’s of experience in acute OR setting
Certified in Perioperative Nursing (CNOR)
Successful completion of NLN/BRN approved course in surgical first assisting
