Position Summary
Executive Assistant (Requisition ) – Position Grade 13. UNM Los Alamos seeks a highly motivated, detail‑oriented, and proactive Executive Assistant to serve as administrative support for the Chancellor. The campus is a branch of UNM located in northern New Mexico dedicated to supporting the community and growing its student population.
This position will provide executive support to the Chancellor and other members of leadership to meet student needs and advance campus strategic goals. The ideal applicant is organized, prioritizes tasks through effective time management, works independently with initiative, supports student success, and understands the confidential nature of the work. Outstanding communication skills are required to work closely with internal departments and external stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; at least 2 years of experience managing at least one of the following functional areas: fiscal services, administration and/or human resources.
- 3 years of additional experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
- Demonstrated experience providing support for executive leadership.
- Advanced scheduling experience.
- Experience planning large-scale events.
- Knowledge of staff hiring procedures.
- Demonstrated self‑motivation and a proactive, go‑getting attitude, with the ability to work independently while consistently acting in the best interests of the University.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Advanced level experience with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Records maintenance skills.
- Conflict resolution and/or mediation skills.
- Project management skills and the ability to resolve complex problems and issues.
Remote Fridays with the rest of campus. Remote days are at the discretion of supervisor and business needs.
Benefits & CompensationMonthly pay: $4,236.27 – $5,950.53. This is a benefits‑eligible position. The University of New Mexico provides medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, as well as tuition remission and dependent education programs.
