What You Will Do
The Los Alamos National Laboratory is looking for an entry level Superintendent who is responsible for overseeing some of the most sophisticated electrical and mechanical facilities and systems. As a Logistics Superintendent, you will be part of a creative, diverse, fast-paced team tasked with tackling complex problems in LANL facilities. Our Superintendents drive continuous improvement, deliver high-quality work on schedule, minimize costs, and maximize mission-critical facility capabilities.
This role requires close collaboration with Facilities Management, Engineering, Planning, Project Management, Material Procurement and Union Craft personnel in the performance of facility preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance and modification work activities. Depending on the assignment, you may be responsible for work activities at a Department of Energy Non-Nuclear Facility. You will also maintain safety and security training and ensure safety and security compliance, taking steps to stop work if it is unsafe or compromises security.
What You Need
Minimum
Job Requirements:
- Ability to execute maintenance activities for systems including work control, facility control systems, upgrades and renovations.
- Ability to understand and interpret physical, mechanical, and electrical documents, specifications, drawings, and schematics.
- Experience directing work and some understanding of collective bargaining agreements.
- Experience identifying problem areas, investigating alternatives, and determining actions to be performed.
- Ability to learn and use a computerized work management system for maintaining and tracking job activities.
- Basic understanding of work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures.
- Experience multitasking, providing customer service, and managing conflicts.
- Typically requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years of maintenance and/or construction experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Education/
Experience:
Position requires 5 years of relevant experience.
DOE 426.2a Requirement: Position requires a high school diploma and 3 years of nuclear experience.

Qualifications:
- Experience directing work and understanding of collective union bargaining agreements.
- Working knowledge and/or experience in an operating hazardous facility.
- Knowledge of environmental laws, regulations and requirements.
- Ability to learn and utilize a computerized work management system for maintaining and tracking job activities.
- Skill in preparing and presenting oral and written reports.

Work Location: Onsite in Los Alamos, NM. Management may determine work location.
Work Schedule: May require 24/7 coverage, with potential shift differential pay as assigned. Shift/weekend assignments are at management discretion.
Position Commitment: Regular appointment employees must serve the required period of continuous service to be eligible for posted LANL positions. The position commitment is 1 year.
