Job Title: Operations Specialist 1 & 2 Duration: 1 year with potential for extension(s)Short Summary about Job:
Hukari Ascendent is seeking 3 Operations Specialists to support facility operations at a DOE national laboratory. We are looking for candidates who can build strong working relationships, coordinate complex readiness activities, evaluate field conditions, and turn operational needs into clear, effective work products.
The role involves regular collaboration with facility personnel, participation in facility and area walkdowns, support for assessments, and coordination of readiness activities with operational and programmatic customers. Technical writing is the core of the work: the specialist develops and maintains documentation that supports operational readiness, clear communication, and effective execution, and serves as a versatile resource across program and operations needs.
Required Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of related experience; without a bachelor’s degree, 4–8 years of additional related experience is required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.
- Demonstrated experience supporting work in an operational, technical, regulated, or compliance-driven environment.
- Intermediate-level knowledge and experience in coordinating activities, schedules, assessments, or action tracking across multiple stakeholders.
- Intermediate-level knowledge and experience in participating in or supporting facility walkdowns, workplace observations, assessments, or similar field-based activities.
- Intermediate-level knowledge and experience to understand and apply organizational policies, procedures, and institutional requirements.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and customer-service skills, including the ability to build productive working relationships across different organizations and levels of responsibility.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex information clearly to different audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze technical or operational information and convert it into clear, accurate, and usable work products.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
- Active DOE Q clearance.
- Demonstrated ability to learn and implement DOE Orders and Laboratory procedures pertinent to nuclear facility operations.
- Technical writing experience.
- Intermediate-level knowledge and experience with Laboratory business systems (Oracle, UTrain, PDMLink, etc.), including PDMLink on SharePoint.
- Intermediate-level knowledge and experience with working and updating project schedules.
- Intermediate-level knowledge and experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma.
- Ability to collaborate effectively.
- Target start date: as soon as possible.
- Work schedule:
full time, 9/80 or 5/8. No on-call or overtime is expected. - 100% on-site; no travel is required. Relocation assistance is not offered.
