The University of New Mexico-Los Alamos (UNM-LA) invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, Tenure-track faculty appointment in Business/Accounting.

Responsibilities
  • Teach full-time as required by the branch workload policies, in courses in Business and Accounting (e.g., Introduction to Business, Business Software such as Quick Books and Excel, Managerial Accounting).
  • Possibly teach courses in related disciplines based on the candidate’s qualifications and interests.
  • Allocate a portion of the teaching load to Service or Professional development/Activities/Scholarship or administrative duties, in consultation with the Dean and Program Coordinator, to meet the needs of the branch campus.
  • Develop courses in areas of expertise as appropriate for the faculty member.
  • Teach assigned day, evening, and weekend classes in various modalities, and participate in student advising, faculty governance committees, and other academic and institutional support activities; perform supervisory responsibilities as assigned.
  • Remain current in teaching best practices and transformational pedagogy, adhering to professional standards in education.
  • Additional responsibilities may include supervision of internships, curriculum development, mentoring adjunct faculty, attending forums and meetings, engaging in undergraduate research, grant-writing, and serving on department and college committees and boards as requested.
  • Final offer contingent upon ability to be on campus in Los Alamos at least three days per week. Appointment begins August 10, 2026.
Salary and Benefits

Starting salary is commensurate with degrees and experience. Base salary for 1.0 FTE is $65,000 for a 9-month faculty position, depending on qualifications. Summer teaching may be possible and optional with additional compensation. An excellent benefits package is provided (see: the Benefits page).

Qualifications
  • Minimum requirements:
  • Master’s degree in Accounting with 15+ graduate hours in Business by the application date, OR
  • Master’s degree in Business with 15+ graduate hours in Accounting by the application date.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Accounting with 15+ graduate hours in Business or PhD in Business with 15+ graduate hours in Accounting by the application date.
  • Evidence of progress/learning in Business or Accounting.
  • Industry experience such as CPA or CMA licenses or project management experience.
  • Experience teaching business or accounting lecture courses at a post-secondary institution.
  • Experience with business and project management software such as Quick Books, Oracle Primavera, MS Office Suite.
  • A demonstrated commitment to understanding diverse cultures and to the university’s mission to serve local and global communities.
