What You Will Do
As part of the Safety Basis Division (SB) of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) you will work within a multidisciplinary team performing documented safety analyses and other safety basis documentation. SB is responsible for providing qualified regulatory and safety basis support resources to various Laboratory organizations for meeting compliance requirements. You will initiate, lead planning, and evaluate changes in safety basis for operational, mission, construction, and major modification needs.
You will also evaluate changes at nuclear facilities in compliance with DOE orders and guides. This function is primarily concerned with safety analysis associated with facility‑specific systems and operations.
This work requires gaining experience in mission, operations and design of facilities assigned in order to update or develop new SB documents. In this role you will develop relationships with facility and/or project management in order to ensure facility mission and schedules are met and provide guidance on implementation of Safety Basis documents. You will also develop studies and perform other tasks as assigned by Safety Basis Division Management.
This position will be filled at either the Safety Basis Analyst 3 or Safety Basis Analyst 4 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
