What You Will Do
This position will be filled at either the Nuclear Facilities Engineer 1/2 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
Nuclear Facilities Engineer 1 ($94,500 - $154,600)Within this job, successful candidates will have opportunity to support the Laboratory’s mission by serving as the subject matter expert for nuclear facility electrical, mechanical, and structural engineering matters, including all aspects of electrical safety, HVAC, power quality, fluid/utility systems, power monitoring, critical power reliability/redundancy issues, renovating rooms, modifying buildings and structural members, and developing new structures within and around the plutonium facility.
Often in this role, engineers may perform engineering studies including short circuit, device coordination, equipment sizing, exterior lighting, fault current, arc flash for both medium and low voltage equipment, demolition, installation, upgrades, and repairs. Within this role, engineers will become familiar with pressure safety, leak testing requirements, piping supports, flow requirements, installing equipment on housekeeping pads or skids with the use of post-installed anchors, design cranes and crane girders/support structures, canopies, equipment support stands, piping/conduit supports, wall/floor/ceiling penetrations, and concrete slabs.
Facilities Engineer 2 ($104,100 - $172,200)
