Senior Technical Advisor – Operations & Project Advisory

COMPA Industries is searching for a qualified candidate for a Senior Technical Advisor position supporting Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) in Aiken, South Carolina.

Salary: $86/hr – $97/hr

Location: Aiken, SC (Savannah River Site) – Onsite / Limited Telework as approved

Citizenship: US Citizenship Required

Work Schedule: Full-time, Day Shift (may include off‑shift support as needed)

Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance

Mandatory Experience Requirement – Read Before Applying
  • Minimum 20 years of experience supporting nuclear facilities or nuclear projects
  • Demonstrated experience providing technical, operational, or project advisory support to DOE/NNSA programs
  • Proven background mentoring senior leaders, project managers, or operations personnel
  • Significant experience with DOE Orders, site procedures, and regulatory compliance

Impact

The Senior Technical Advisor serves as a trusted subject matter expert and mentor, providing strategic technical and operational guidance across complex nuclear operations and project environments. This role directly supports mission‑critical DOE programs by strengthening leadership performance, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance across facilities and project teams.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Provide expert advisory support in operations, project execution, planning, and performance improvement
  • Mentor senior managers, first‑line managers, and project personnel on:
    • Conduct of Operations
    • Management expectations and accountability
    • Employee development and performance improvement
  • Advise leadership on DOE Order implementation, regulatory compliance, and best practices
  • Participate in and support:
    • Project and operational readiness reviews
    • Independent Project Reviews (IPRs) and assessments
    • Development of corrective actions and performance improvement plans
  • Support multiple facilities and operational environments, including day, night, and weekend shifts
  • Prepare and deliver briefings, assessments, and written recommendations to senior management
  • Serve as a technical liaison between operations, engineering, project management, and oversight organizations
Minimum Qualifications Education & Experience (one of the following)
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline + 12 years of relevant experience
  • Associate degree in a technical discipline + 16 years of relevant experience
  • High school diploma + 20 years of relevant experience
Experience Requirements
  • Extensive experience in nuclear operations, maintenance, or project environments
  • Deep knowledge of DOE Orders, site‑level procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and advisory capabilities
  • Ability to evaluate performance, identify gaps, and recommend corrective actions
Security
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance
  • Active clearance not required at time of hire
Desired Skills
  • Prior possession of an active DOE “L” or “Q” clearance within the past 2 years
  • Previous experience at Savannah River Site (SRS) or other DOE facilities
  • Strong communication skills for executive‑level briefings and mentoring
  • Experience supporting multi‑facility or multi‑project environments
Education And Experience Requirements

Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered as outlined above. Extensive DOE/NNSA experience is strongly preferred.
