Technical Advisor, Nuclear Facilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Technical Advisor, Nuclear Facilities to join our team supporting the Los Alamos National Laboratory
! This position is full‑time and will be based out of Los Alamos, New Mexico.

Responsibilities

• Provides senior‑level technical, operational, and management guidance to LANL’s Plutonium Facilities Engineering Division Office (PFE-DO); PFE is central to supporting their nuclear mission, handling engineering for critical facilities, managing safety/maintenance, and focusing on modernization for pit production.

• Manages and directs the daily tasks of individuals and project teams required to perform ongoing support of design, construction, startup and/or operations/maintenance activities of systems, structures, and components at nuclear facilities.

• Renders expert opinions on engineering and technical issues, provides recommendations to project design and construction teams in specific areas of expertise.

• Provides independent reviews and assessments in areas of specialized expertise and provides guidance to project teams in delivering results on high‑hazard/high‑consequence projects.

• Interfaces with management personnel and customer representatives, prepares and presents analysis and studies regarding organizational capabilities, performance, and areas for improvement.

• Develops and enforces work standards, assigns schedules, reviews work quality, communicates goals, objectives, and policies of the organization.

• Provides leadership for the project teams, coordinates with the functional organizations, and advises senior personnel within the PFE division.

• Participates in schedule development and planning/scheduling activities for numerous small to moderate sized projects. As needed, reviews and approves costs and schedule estimating activities.
