Fellow Technical Advisor – Project & Nuclear Operations Advisory
COMPA Industries is searching for qualified candidates for a Fellow Technical Advisor position supporting Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) in Aiken, South Carolina.
Salary: $100/hr – $110/hr
Location: Aiken, SC (Savannah River Site) – Onsite / Limited Telework as Approved
Citizenship: US Citizenship Required
Work Schedule: Full-time (up to 40 hours/week; may include part-time or telework as approved)
Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance

Experience Requirements- Minimum 20 years of experience working in nuclear facilities or on nuclear projects
- Extensive experience supporting DOE/NNSA capital line-item projects, including DOE O 413.3B implementation
- Demonstrated advisory and mentoring experience supporting project managers, project controls personnel, and senior leadership
- Proven experience participating in or leading major project reviews, including IPRs, APRs, ICEs, and CD‑3x submittals
- Strong working knowledge of EVMS, including direct involvement in EVMS certification activities

ImpactThe Fellow Technical Advisor serves as a senior-most subject matter expert providing strategic project, technical, and operational advisory support across complex nuclear missions. This role directly strengthens SRNS project execution, leadership effectiveness, and regulatory compliance for high‑visibility DOE/NNSA programs, including plutonium and SRTE‑supported facilities.
Responsibilities and Duties- Provide expert advisory support in project execution, scheduling, estimating, planning, and strategic planning
- Conduct organizational and project leadership assessments and interface with NNSA Headquarters as required
- Mentor project/program managers and project controls personnel in:
- DOE O 413.3B implementation
- EVMS application and certification
- Independent Project Reviews (IPRs) and Annual Project Reviews (APRs)
- Lead and/or participate in major project reviews, including:
- Contractor red/green team reviews
- IPRs, APRs, ICEs
- Preliminary and final design reviews
- CD‑3x package development and submittals
- Provide consultation on nuclear facility operations, including multi‑shift operations, acquisition/operability/constructability, waste management, and radiological operations
- Advise senior management on integrated team structures, mission objectives, and performance evaluation
- Provide oversight of support operations across multiple projects and organizations
- Develop and deliver training programs for project management and project controls personnel
- Prepare briefings, assessments, and recommendations for SRNS and DOE/NNSA leadership
- Education & Experience (one of the following):
- Master’s degree in a technical discipline + 25 years of broad experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline + 30 years of broad experience
- Experience Requirements:
- 20+ years supporting nuclear facilities or nuclear projects
- 15+ years of DOE O 413.3B project management experience
- 5+ years supporting DOE/NNSA capital line‑item projects
- 20+ years developing and delivering training or mentoring
- Key role in EVMS certification at one or more DOE sites
- Prior experience working at Savannah River Site (preferred)
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance
- Active clearance not required at time of hire
- Subcontractor must maintain active eFOCI registration and Facility Clearance
- PMP certification
- Professional Engineer (PE) license (South Carolina preferred)
- Prior DOE “L” or “Q” clearance
- Extensive knowledge of DOE/NNSA funding cycles and the DOE complex
- Strong executive‑level communication and mentoring skills
- Experience supporting plutonium, SRTE, or high‑hazard nuclear facilities
- Telework permitted where approved per SRNS policy
- Travel to SRS required up to 25% (business travel costs must be considered by candidates)
- Travel to supplier or DOE locations may be required with prior authorization
