What You Will Do
The role will be filled as a Work Control Planner 1 or 2, depending on the applicant’s skills. Responsibilities include planning and scheduling maintenance, manufacturing and construction work activities for Facility Operations Directorates (FODs) and ensuring all tasks comply with safety, security and regulatory requirements.
Work Control Planner 1 (Salaried $64,700 – $101,400)- Ensure safety and security compliance and maintain required training.
- Prepare, review, and issue equipment or system modification, corrective maintenance, or preventative maintenance work packages in accordance with procedures and regulations.
- Develop detailed specifications for materials and labor estimates, and create step‑by‑step work instructions.
- Prepare isolation, containment, or de‑energizing instructions for mechanical, physical, electrical, chemical, and/or radiological systems.
- Assist with permit development, testing requirements, documentation, records management and database information management.
- Adhere to industry regulatory guidance and governance specific to work control and planning.
- Ensure that all work control results, materials, processes, and final products meet quality specifications.
- Perform all responsibilities of Planner 1.
- Analyze time and material requirements for work activity.
- Track and expedite established priority of work packages.
- Evaluate processes, programs, and procedures for potential improvements.
Job Requirements
- Knowledge and experience in work control, materials management, and mechanical maintenance.
- Ability to understand and interpret mechanical and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
- Understanding of work hazards, safety practices, lock‑out/tag‑out policies and procedures.
- Research, problem‑solving and recommendation skills covering work control and planning challenges.
- Report preparation and presentation ability to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Skill in conceptualizing and communicating work control and planning to others.
- Ability to use a computerized work management system for planning activities.
- Fully understand work hazards, safety practices, lock‑out/tag‑out policies and procedures.
- Fully utilize a computerized work management system for tracking work‑planning activities.
- Working knowledge of legal requirements and environmental impacts affecting work control and planning.
- Planner 1: 2 years of related experience or equivalent education and experience.
- Planner 2:
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related experience or equivalent education and experience.
Ability to climb ladders.
Desired Qualifications- Knowledge of laboratory infrastructure and site planning policies.
- Understanding of HVAC, compressors, boilers, and electrical distribution systems.
- Experience tracking work activities from conception through completion.
- Active Q clearance.
On‑site, Los Álamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
