High Explosives and Energetics Program Manager (Science/Engineering Program Manager 4)
Los Alamos National Laboratory seeks a Program Manager to lead participation in the NA‑193.3 High Explosives and Energetics (HE&E) program portfolio.
What You Will Do- Lead LANL’s participation and support to the HE&E Program Office to provide high‑explosive materials for stockpile production and national security.
- Execute programmatic objectives: technology maturation, manufacturing methods, deployment to production sites, and infrastructure to support stockpile needs.
- Serve as primary point of contact for the laboratory’s role in the NA‑193.3 portfolio.
- Collaborate with the High Explosives Strategy Office (ALDW‑PO) and other program offices (Stockpile Modernization, Science Programs, Engineering Technology Maturation, etc.) to advance energetic‑materials development and transition to production.
- Participate in national‑level strategic initiatives and working groups on high explosives.
- Goal 1:
Stabilize – strengthen supply chain, improve resiliency, increase production reliability, and accelerate development of new energetic molecules and binders to production scale. - Goal 2:
Modernize – invest in infrastructure, implement advanced manufacturing techniques, and establish scalable, repeatable processes. - Goal 3:
Integrate – coordinate across the energetics enterprise.
- Program Management – expert knowledge in defining scope, schedule, budget, risk, and cost control.
- Communication – excellent interpersonal, oral, and written skills; ability to build consensus.
- Project Facilitation – proven ability to meet schedules and deliverables; work independently with minimum supervision.
- Training/Certifications – PMP certification or willingness to obtain within first year.
- Education/Experience – bachelor’s degree in science or engineering (advanced degree expected); 12 years of related experience, or equivalent combination.
- Desired Qualifications – knowledge of HE&E mission, regulatory requirements, and nuclear‑weapon complex; leadership within the complex; strategic collaboration; partner‑building with DOE/NNSA customers, agencies, academia, and industry; advanced degree (MBA, MS, etc.); active Q clearance.
- Onsite in Los Alamos, NM.
- Regular appointment; 1‑year minimum commitment.
- Travel 1 × /month.
