Labware LIMS Developer (Computing Systems Professional 1/2)
Los Alamos, New Mexico (hybrid work arrangement possible). This position is a full‑time appointment requiring a U.S. Q clearance.
Responsibilities- Investigate, design, document, and implement software solutions to support analytical chemistry operations across several nuclear facilities.
- Work with the LIMS team lead, other developers, project and program managers, and end users to understand needs and develop solutions.
- Develop concepts for information system solutions, evaluate cost effectiveness, and make technical decisions within defined practices.
- Design, develop, test, and validate Lab Ware LIMS coding and configuration to meet users’ functional requirements.
- Provide advanced technical support services and mentor junior developers.
- Identify and address productivity impediments and promote work‑process improvements.
- Configure and develop Lab Ware LIMS in accordance with software quality assurance and regulatory requirements.
Position will be filled at either the Computing Systems Professional Level 1 or Level 2, depending on the skills of the selected candidate.
Labware LIMS Developer 1Salary: $71,200 - $112,900
- Regularly learn and adapt new concepts and methods for continuous improvement of LIMS processes.
- Provide advanced technical support, design, specify, and develop solutions for complex computing infrastructure.
- Assist with research, design, testing, analysis, verification, and validation of engineering and technology solutions.
- Make technical decisions and design alternatives for assigned work.
- Develop and validate Lab Ware coding and configuration to meet project scope.
- Contribute to milestones of team‑specific projects and programmatic objectives.
Salary: $85,900 - $139,900
- Operate with greater autonomy and develop more complex solutions.
- Identify and assess risks; design processes for improvement or correction.
- Understand quality assurance requirements for internal and external audits.
Minimum
Job Requirements:
- Some Lab Ware LIMS/ELN development and configuration experience, or other database knowledge.
- Some coding experience.
- Ability to learn and improve knowledge, troubleshoot LIMS elements.
- Document and keep records for traceable quality purposes.
- Team‑based collaboration experience.
Job Requirements for Lab Ware LIMS Developer 2
- Troubleshooting complex functions within LIMS software and database platform.
- Experience creating and installing Lab Ware LIMS software, including maintenance.
- Experience automating instrument to LIMS communication links and troubleshooting.
- 2+ years in Lab Ware LIMS, completion of Lab Ware LIMS Admin 1 training, and additional training or 3+ years of experience.
Lower level:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience; STEM preferred.
Higher level:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field, minimum four years related experience, or equivalent; STEM preferred.
- Background in Analytical Chemistry or other highly regulated laboratory environment.
- Background knowledge or experience with databases.
- Experience with SQL, BASIC, HTML, Batch, or Power Shell scripting.
- Distinguished background in Lab Ware LIMS development.
- Experience integrating lab instruments with Lab Ware.
- Familiarity with agile/scrum methodologies.
- Experience in a regulated environment (QA standards, etc.).
- Active Q clearance.
Hybrid work arrangement (partially onsite/partially offsite) from a location within a two‑hour ground commute of Los Alamos, New Mexico. Reporting onsite required periodically.
