SOLUTIONS ARCHITECT 4

The solutions architect serves as principal architect of large and complex hardware, software, database, networking, and/or telecommunication solutions. Determines Laboratory-wide requirements and incorporates these requirements into solutions that may be commercial-off-the-shelf (Oracle P6, PIF, Web Logic) or internally developed software and hardware. May be responsible for project management in implementing complex solutions. May be responsible for oversight of project documentation, marketing, training, budget, schedules, resource utilization, and benefits realization on complex solutions projects.

Individual must have broad expertise or unique knowledge, use skills to contribute to development of objectives and principles and to achieve goals in creative and effective ways. Develops advanced concepts, techniques, and standards based on professional principles and theories. Viewed as expert in field within the Laboratory. Works on unusually significant, unique or complex issues, provides solutions that are highly creative and where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles.

Has impact on success of future concepts, products or technologies. Works under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range targets. Assignments are often self-initiated. Virtually self-supervisory. Uses independent judgment for determining course of action to accomplish objectives. Uses wide latitude in the methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

Individual selected for this position must be able to obtain a Q clearance.

Job Duties

Leads complex projects that require in-depth analysis, gathering of customer requirements, and cross-discipline solution sets.

Researches solutions for complex problems that span multiple disciplines, including hardware, software development, systems programming, data management, security, networking, telecommunications, or related disciplines.

Provides technical leadership and architectural direction for complex systems.

Integrates strategic thinking in the formulation of solutions and capabilities to ensure that long-term business objectives and impact are factored into the design process.

Formally manages projects from inception through implementation, including project management, documentation, and training of users, system administrators, or others who may maintain or use the end products.

Fosters a mutually respectful and inclusive work environment that is free from discrimination and harassment.
