What You Will Do
This position is for a Work Execution Manager (WEM) within the Operations Integration Center (OIC). The WEM's function is to be the ultimate authority for executing work according to the schedule and is the focal point for communication of delays and changes to scheduled activities. The WEM has a comprehensive knowledge of the scheduled work and is responsible for understanding the interactions between work groups, coordination, and handoffs that must occur to effectively complete work.
The WEM's role is walking in each scheduled week of activities from T-4 (T-week) to T+1 for scoping, scheduling, executing, and critiquing work week performance. The WEM is tasked with managing, negotiating, and communicating the schedule across all the individual stakeholders on the integrated schedule. The WEM is expected to drive problem resolution. This position will be a central voice within the ALDWP and with multiple missions for the responsible T-week.
Their actions directly affect programmatic milestones and are tasked with ensuring the integrated schedule meets production deliverables.
As a Work Execution Manager, you will be asked to coordinate with organizational stakeholders to maximize production availability. Ensures schedule development, preparation, readiness, and execution. Accountable for deliverables affecting the limitation of production. Report and present to OIC management on schedule adherence and locked in work completion metrics. Lead integrated schedule management meetings with large audiences. Integrate complex work into a multidisciplinary facility.
Primary spokesperson for schedule status, and issues to senior level program and facility management.
Duties and Responsibilities of the WEM shall include but not limited to:
- Communicating with work groups to ensure that activities are integrated and ready to work by verifying people, parts, and paper are ready/approved prior to the execution week
- Audit scheduled activities through regular field walkdowns
- Ensure activities are task ready by:
- Assisting with the work package approval process (prompting SMEs to approve work packages etc.)
- Ensure that planned outages are aligned and supported as scheduled
- Assist Outage Management Team in outage planning and execution
- Tracking and assisting with parts verification to include verifying that materials are on hand and staged prior to moving an activity to the Lock-in schedule
- Ensure that activities are integrated and communicated for affected stakeholders
- Confirm resources are available to support all scheduled work
- Resolves obstacles that interfere with schedule execution
- Drives the schedule during execution week
- Integrates/Coordinates efforts for internal, external and subcontract work groups
- Lead the T-week meetings for scope freeze, schedule freeze, and plan of the day
- Holds Work Week Review (T+1) meetings
- Conducting structured Work Week Review (T+1), Scheduling, Scoping, and Lock-In Meetings and ensuring that all parties are engaged and challenged to meet their commitments for the upcoming and current work weeks
- Identify and assign actions from the Work Week Review meetings
- Manages schedule change control to obtain best utilization of facility resources
What You Need
Minimum
Job Requirements:
- Experience in supervising multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent public speaking capability.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated ability with conflict resolution.
- Previous schedule management experience.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and nurturing customer relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, plan, and organize a variety of missions to ensure schedule execution.
- Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q clearance.
Education/
Experience:
Position requires a Bachelor s degree and 1 year of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired
Qualifications:
- Previous senior level schedule management responsibilities.
- Advanced P6 experience.
- Experience in project and program management, including planning, organizing, and resource management.
Work Schedule: This position requires 24/7 coverage and therefore may require working a rotating shift schedule that includes nights and weekends.
Work Environment: Working overtime or irregular schedule and working off-shift, weekends, and rotating schedule.
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.
