What You Will Do
This position will be filled at either the QA/QC Inspector 3/4 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional responsibilities will be assigned if hired at the higher level.
QA/QC Inspector 3 ($64,700 - $101,400)
The Prototype Fabrication Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory provides expertise in machining, fabrication, and precision dimensional inspection of hardware supporting nuclear stockpile stewardship. The candidate will join a team of engineers, machinists, and quality control professionals to ensure components meet standards. Responsibilities include using and understanding Material and Test Equipment (M&TE) in a high-precision inspection laboratory.
QA/QC Inspector 4 ($78,700 - $125,100)
In addition to the above, at this level, the candidate should have advanced CMM programming skills, capable of developing complex part programs and consulting with clients on inspection procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
- Strong math skills, including unit conversions and trigonometry.
- Ability to interpret drawings with GD&T for inspection.
- Effective communication skills for reports and procedures.
- Knowledge of calibration and use of M&TE, including CMMs and other measuring tools.
- Ability to troubleshoot and develop CMM programs.
Additional for QA/QC Inspector 4:
- Advanced GD&T knowledge for design and inspection consultation.
- Expertise in CMM programming for complex parts.
- Experience in selecting measurement equipment based on customer needs.
- Mentoring experience.
Education/
Experience:
At lower level:
Associate's Degree or Machinist Apprenticeship + 2 years of related experience. At higher level: same education + 4 years of experience.
Desired
Qualifications:
- Experience with QUINDOS, PC-DMIS, or Poly Works software.
- Knowledge of ISO 10360 standards.
- Strong technical communication skills.
- Existing DOE Q clearance or equivalent.
