What You Will Do

This position will be filled at the QPA Specialist 2 or 3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level. You will be responsible for ensuring quality requirements are incorporated into the organization, with regular contact with internal and external resources to execute responsibilities successfully.

What

You Need
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of nuclear codes and standards (e.g., 10 CFR 830 Subpart A, DOE Order 414.1E, ASME NQA‑1‑2008/ASME NQA‑1A‑2009 Addenda to ASME NQA‑1 - 2008, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Regulatory Guide Series or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated knowledge/experience in participant and support of quality assessments, surveillances, audits, and/or Non‑Conformance disposition and closure.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret various physical, mechanical, and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, specifications, and schematics.
  • Above average written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel across multiple organizations to solve problems.
Education / Experience

Lower level (QPA Specialist
2):
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and 5 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Higher level (QPA Specialist
3):
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and 8 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Post‑graduate coursework may be desirable.

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience providing QA support in nuclear or high‑hazard environments, including procedure reviews, readiness activities, and assessments.
  • Advanced knowledge of Nonconformance Reporting (NCR) processes and ability to coordinate NCR actions and quality documentation.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining a facility QA program, conducting document reviews, and supporting audits, inspections, and surveillances.
  • Skill in applying QA principles to enhance processes, identify deficiencies, and guide corrective actions across facility and program activities.
  • Proven ability to elevate quality issues, ensure compliance, and support overall QA performance and audit coordination.

Protective clothing & environment:
Safety glasses or eye protection, safety shoes or protective footgear, when required.

Work Location

Onsite in Los Alamos, NM. All locations are at management discretion.

Position Commitment

Regular appointment employees are required to serve one year of continuous service in their current position to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
