What You Will Do

This position will be filled at the Software Developer 2 level.

PSS-1 is seeking an energetic and customer-focused Software Developer (SD). The Software Systems Development team is responsible for the development and maintenance of ALDWP's red and yellow web applications. The developer will support various databases and applications to include customized development and upkeep (e.g. system access/permissions, quick fixes, workflow creation/maintenance, etc.) across the organization. This work will be performed in a fast-paced environment with the potential for growth in the areas of providing tailored solutions in direct support of specific programmatic needs and mission milestones.

Furthermore, be an active participant in a Scrum Development Team developing multiple web applications in an Agile environment.

Working on a team, the successful candidate will perform the full spectrum of database, Application and Website development, including but not limited to the following:

• Website development for the yellow and red networks.
• Designs, develops, modifies, tests, debugs and evaluates software to meet functional requirements for functional areas.
• Database development and administration.
• Assists with automation strategies.
• Provides training and support to end users.

• Demonstrated experience with back-end development using .Net Core C#, Java, Blazor and front-end development using HTML5, XML, CSS3, JavaScript and jQuery.
• Demonstrated experience with Siemens Mendix Development.
• Demonstrated experience in a SQL Server environment writing SQL Queries and Microsoft IIS and authentication methods.
• Excellent collaboration and communication (verbal and written) skills.
• Experience working in a Scrum Development Team environment.

• Demonstrated experience in the design and development of mobile applications.
• Experience developing and providing software user training to end users.
• Skilled in design software such as (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
• Experience with on premise Azure DevOPS.
• Scrum Master (CSM) Certification.
• Experience in CI/CD automated test environments.

Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and 5 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

The work location for this position is hybrid and is located in Los Alamos, NM. Hybrid is defined as working partially onsite/partially offsite but within 2 hours ground commute of this location. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.

Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.
